In the mountains of central Italy, in the town of Cascia, the Augustinian sisters have not forgotten the saint who lived within the walls of their convent for 40 years.
Many traces of Saint Rita's presence have been preserved there to this day, including the ex-votos, her small convent cell, Saint Rita's first coffin, and the painted wooden sarcophagus made for her later. In the adjacent cell, you can see the Golden Urn, a sarcophagus that preserved the saint's body from 1745 to 1930. Saint Rita's marriage ring and the chaplet of her rosary are also found there.
The monastery also has an oratory with a crucifix in which a thorn from Christ's crown touched the forehead of the saint, who begged Him to share His suffering with her.
As a tribute to Saint Rita, a rose garden was planted in the monastery. The rose is in fact a symbol of Saint Rita, mainly because of a request she made shortly before her death: Saint Rita asked a cousin who came to visit her to bring her a rose. This request could not be fulfilled because it was still winter. However, in the village of Roccaporena, the cousin found a rose in the snow. Then, she hurriedly took it to Saint Rita. The rose petals that we offer in our product come from this garden. They are petals that fall during the year and are then collected and placed in vials in honor of the saint.
Cascia also produces pink rose incense, which accompanies the sisters during masses in the convent with the scent of holiness. In addition to incense and blessed rose petals, in our kit dedicated to Saint Rita, you will find blessed oil and holy water, both of which come from Cascia too, a relic prayer card of the saint of impossible causes, a novena booklet, and silver rosary. You can also have in your set a wonderful eternal rose which does not wither nor droop and will accompany your meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary as well as devotion to your favorite saint which it symbolizes.
